If you’d told me years ago that I’d become a chocolatier and the creator of a range of healthy, body-and-mind-focused foods, I probably would have laughed. Not because I didn’t love chocolate (who doesn’t?) but because the idea of making it from scratch - real, proper, bean-to-bar chocolate - seemed like something only master pastry chefs in fancy kitchens did.

But here I am - living proof that with enough passion, a touch of chutzpah and a willingness to fail spectacularly, you can turn even the wildest ideas into reality. And somewhere along the way, my journey with chocolate led me to something even bigger: creating delicious, nutritious foods that can help heal, energise and include everyone - no matter their dietary needs.

From Lifelong Health Lover to Reluctant Patient

I’ve been health-conscious my entire life - vegetarian for over 30 years, fully vegan since 2020. Long before I was diagnosed with type-1 diabetes in 2021 (yes, very unusual in adulthood), I was obsessed with nutrition, balance and the power of food to fuel us well.

But type-1 diabetes changed everything. Suddenly, every meal became a numbers game - balancing sugar, carbs and insulin (great with a needle phobia). I realised just how hard it was to find truly delicious, plant-based, allergen-free foods that wouldn’t send my blood sugar on a rollercoaster. So, I did what any mad person would do, began creating my own…

Healing Through Food

So, in 2024, after several years of dealing with nasty, post-Covid symptoms which left me dealing with chronic inflammation and constant pain, my focus sharpened even further. I knew I had to do more than "eat well" - I needed to heal my body.

That’s how my vibrant, nutrient-dense smoothies and rich, comforting soups were born. Packed with anti-inflammatory, high-protein and fibre-rich ingredients, they became my daily medicine - food that tasted incredible but also worked hard to restore my health from the inside out. I dropped weight, my body stopped aching and I started to feel young(er) & healthier again!

Chocolate: Still at the Heart

Yes, Frootie is about much more than chocolate - but chocolate still has my heart. Not just any chocolate, though. I make it with organic, high-quality cacao, chosen for its antioxidants, minerals and mood-boosting benefits.

It’s indulgence you can feel good about - a square of something luxurious that also delivers real health value. In our world, chocolate isn’t the enemy of healthy eating; it’s part of it.

For Everyone, Without Compromise

Being vegan is a choice I’m proud of. Being diabetic isn’t. And for those living with allergies or intolerances, avoiding certain foods isn’t a lifestyle trend - it’s survival.

That’s why every Frootie creation - from soups and smoothies to chocolate and desserts - is plant-based, allergen-free and made without added sugars. My mission is simple: no one should have to miss out on food that’s both delicious and good for you.

The Journey Continues

I tell my kids that failure isn’t the end - it’s just a step toward success. Frootie is the result of years of trial, error, learning and persistence. It started with chocolate, grew into a health-focused food brand and will keep evolving with one goal in mind: to help people eat better, feel better and live better.

Because life’s too short for boring food - eat food that loves you back!
